NeU, together with Taiwan’s Liyu Education and Imedtac Co., will be collaborating on a brain health training program specially designed for K-12 students (elementary school to high school). This cross-sector collaboration utilizes advanced brain science technology and medical expertise to improve students’ cognitive functions, especially on concentration, memory and reaction speed to help students perform better with their learning performance.

The core technology of the brain health training program comes from more than ten years of research results of NeU, which was jointly founded by Tohoku University and HITACHI High-tech, focusing on using brain science to improve cognitive abilities. NeU’s CEO Hasegawa mentioned that the scientific and technological foundation of the program includes the application of NIRS (near-infrared spectroscopy), a non-invasive brain activity monitoring technology that can track and analyze brain blood flow changes in real-time to evaluate brain activity and cognitive function. During the research period, interactive games and training activities were developed specifically to improve students’ cognitive activities by activating and exercising their prefrontal cortex (the area of the brain primarily responsible for higher-order cognitive functions such as decision-making, problem-solving and social interaction).

In addition, the collaboration plans to incorporate the medical technology of Imedtac Co., who will provide professional medical support to ensure the scientific and practicality of the training program.

In the future, Liyu Education expects to integrate scientific and technological achievements into educational activities to provide personalized learning experiences and instant neurofeedback to help teachers and parents support their children’s learning and development more effectively. Through this training system, students can perform mental training while having fun, and educators can adjust teaching strategies based on data analysis to achieve the best educational results.
